Urban Poverty & Climate Change
Created: 07-02-2008 Description: Recently there has been a shift in development discourse leaning towards urban poverty reduction and climate change. CARE International has also repositioned its strategy. It now provides focus on reducing carbon emmision through its various programming in field and urban poverty reduction. CARE India-Sustianed Nutrition, Education, health and Livelihood Program which operates in Gujarat state India, has initiated an urban poverty reductin program covering 40 slums. the results are positive. Recently there has been cross learning visit by CARE Nepla colleagues and following CARE India colleagues also visited CARE Nepal to help them design their urban poverty reduction and governance program. This group is formed in order to share informations and insights regarding urban poverty and cliamte change work being carried out across Care Country missions.
